London

Greetings from London.  We had a great full-spectrum of worship today.  Went to the morning service at Hillsongs London (great band, ok preaching)((don’t even think that)) at the Dominion theater.  Then went to Westminster Abby where I sat ten yards from Chaucer’s grave for Evensong service with choir, pipe organ, and numerous readings and a [...]

Bournemouth

Friends,
Greetings from the south coast of England.  One of Bill’s friends on the Bethel board suggested this would be a good place to recover from our trip to Estonia.  We had in mind a small English village, but it is a town of 200,000.  We have a nice room on the ocean thanks to our [...]

Tartu

Greetings from the university center of Estonia.  We began today in Parnu, and drove to Viljandi to have lunch with Pastor Ammo Remmel.  We toured the church which continues step by step with construction.  The newest additions were beautiful wood doors.  Pastor Remmel read Haggai about going to the woods, so the people went and [...]

Summer Festival

Greetings from our last day in Parnu for the “Summer Days.”
The day began at 10 with me giving a greeting at the service.  Then we went to lunch with the office staff from the Union.  At 4 I did my hour-long seminar with an Atwood interview.
After dinner we went to the evening meeting that was [...]

Parnu

Challenge:  Summer Festival is being broadcast live on the internet, but I don’t know where.  Probably on the Union of Evangelical Churches of Estonia website.  If you want to tune it to see what we are seeing.
Good morning from Parnu, the summer capital of Estonia.  We had a great opening to “Summer Festival” last night [...]

Kuresaare

Greetings from the island of Saarema.
Today we drove from Tallinn, a four-hour journey.  It was bad weather today, with the strongest winds I’ve ever had here.  The ferry fide to the island was especially rough, and Annette Atwood needed several hours to recover.
As we left the boat, we met Kuldar and Margaret Kaljuste for lunch [...]

Tallinn

Friends,
Midnight in Tallinn, the end of a long and fruitful day.
We began by going to visit the Allika Church, Union of Evangelical Church offices and touring the “Helping Hand” orphanage.  These are all in the same building.  We hade a wonderful hour-long meeting with Erki Tomm, The General Secretary of the Union and Pelle, the [...]

Estonia

Friends,  It is almost midnight in Estonia as I write this, and the sun just went down.  The Atwood family arrived at about 9 tonight.  We drove around old town and then checked them in and went to dinner at 10.  It is good to have the whole team together.
Today began with a breakfast meeting [...]

Me and Bill

Friends,
Yesterday I spent the day in a conference room with fifteen pastors (8 from CA) and Bill Hybels. We talked for about fifteen minutes about the Leadership Summit and then Bill turned it into a coaching session and asked us what we wanted to talk about. First question was about church staff members [...]
